Paper Playtime Challenge #55

Hi everyone, hope your having a great day. This easel card I made for my dad's 73rd birthday! He loves chocolate cake. (Who doesn't) My dad is a very special person in my life, especially as I've grown older. When I was young he was always working and supporting his family, so we didn't see much of him or had a very close relationship. But now we do and I love every minute I am with him. I love you daddy!
I am entering this card in the Paper Playtime Challenge, create an easel card...hope you enjoy it!

My Creative Time Challenge

I'm so excited, this is my first Halloween card. I didn't get my Cricut until last Christmas so this will be my first year for HOLIDAY cards...Yeah!!!!!  I made this card for the challenge over at http://MyCreativeTime.blogspot.com. The challenge is to make a card using the colors purple, green, black and orange and you cannot use your Cricut... This is what I came up with...

Here is the items used for this card:
Divine Swirls embossing folder, for black cardstock
Cardstock from Recollections and Colorbok
Fake spider web
Spider (I found him at the thrift store) COOL...
Chipboard sticker (Bought it last year for a quarter at Wal-mart
Natural twine, from my stash

I like the way it turned out, especially since my wonderful husband came up with the idea to use the spider web and the spider. Thanks babe! Hope all of you have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by to visit...

Mom's Birthday Card

Hi everyone! I wanted to share with you the card I made for my mother for her 73th birthday. My mother is and always will be my best friend. She is a wonderful, caring, thoughtful, crafty, giving, beautiful, and God fearing woman. I remember when my brother and I were little we always said that she was our angel. Sniff Sniff, how cute is that... Anyway, this is my first "pop up" card and I love the way it turned out. I used different cuts from several cartridges, and of course, I forgot to write down all the details. Sorry...

I definitely need to use the Cricut to cut out the clouds next time, my free hand clouds just aren't up to par. lol  My mother loved the card and really thats all that matters, right? Below is a picture of the inside of the card. I really enjoyed making these flowers and I think they are sooo cute.
Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Patterned Paper with Shaving Cream and Ink????

Hi everyone! My last card I made was for Birthday Sundaes Blog Hop and Challenge. I recieved several comments about the paper I used for my cupcake "frosting".  I decided that one of the reasons I blog, is to gain knowledge and learn different techniques from other bloggers. Sooo, I would like to pass on to my bloggy friends how I made the "frosting" paper.
Supplies:
Ink (I used alcohol ink) I believe regular ink would work as well.
A spatula
Table knife or something to swirl ink with
Paper towels
A dish of some kind
White cardstock
Step 1: Shake shaving cream can and spray shaving cream in a back and forth motion into your dish. About 1/2" thick.
Step 2: Add drops of the ink around on top of the shaving cream. For this demonstration I used 3 colors of ink. But you can use 1 color or as many colors as you want. This is YOUR creation!
Step 3: Use a knife and make swirls in the shaving cream. (kinda like making a Marble Cake) YUM!
Step 4: Next, lay your cardstock on top of the shaving cream/ink mixture and pat down firmly, but not too hard. Make sure you get all the cardstock into the mess, whoops I mean mixture. lol
Step 5: Lift cardstock up and use your spatula to scrap off as much shaving cream as you can. This is the messy part.
Step 6: Use paper towel to wipe off and pat remainder of shaving cream off cardstock.
Presto Change O, your finished ONE OF A KIND paper!
Here is the finished project, plus two others I tried. The top paper is using just pink ink, the other one I made the shaving cream all pink by kinda stirring in the ink, then I went back and added a few drops of green ink, played around with making straight "marks" with my knife. I really liked the way this one turned out. Looks like leaves to me. Anyway, this is my 1st tutorial. Hope you enjoy and give this technique a try. Let me know if you do, I'd love to hear about your adventures! Dawn

Birthday Sundaes Blog Hop and Challenge

Hi everyone! I made this card for the Cake and Cupcake Bloghop and Challenge over at Birthday Sundaes! What a fun hop, lots of blog candy to try to win. I made it just under the deadline too! Hope you enjoy. I'm so excited because back when I first started youtubing about card making I learned how to make the paper I used for the frosting. It's made using alcohol inks and shaving cream (messy, but worth it) Here are the treasures I used to make this A2 size card:

Birthday Bash Cartridge for the cupcake (cut at 4")
different paper from my scrap box
Divine Swirls embossing folder
Happy Birthday embossing folder
Wet embossing for the sentiment (purple, and I still need lots of practice)
Happy Birthday sentiment from ? (I think I bought it at Hobby Lobby)
Button from my grandmother's button box

Have a wonderful and blessed Sunday...

Help! Cartridge Search

Hi everyone,
Haven't posted a card for awhile, I have a creative block... ;( Anyway, my 72 year old dad mows peoples yards to keep busy (like he hasn't worked enough in his life)  and he asked me the other day if "my cutting machine" could cut out a lawnmower.(Gotta love him!) He's thinking ahead for Christmas cards for his customers. Christmas, oh no! Hee Hee! Well, I drew a blank, and can't think of any cartridges that could possible have a lawnmower on it. Sooo I'm asking for help from my bloggy friends. Any suggestions? Have a great day, and I will try to get my creative juices flowing again soon, I hope...

Flutter By Wednesday Challenge #159

Hi everyone! Decided to join the challenge over at Flutter By Wednesdays. This challenge is to use the colors pink, orange and green. Don't forget to add an angel, butterfly or fairy to the card. I enjoyed making this card very much. This card was made for 2 reasons. The first being the challenge and the second reason is to send to my husband's cousin, who is dying of cancer. His name is Kirwin. He is very upbeat about his condition, and keeps journaling his journey on the computer, but could you imagine your doctor telling you that you only had about 5 months left on this earth. My heart goes out to him and his family. Please add him to your prayer list. Have a truly blessed day!

My First Z Fold Card

Hi everyone! This was my day off and I think I did more work today than I do at work. HaHa! AND still had energy to make my Father's Day Card for my dad today too. (amazing what alittle Mtn Dew will do) But whew I'm sure tired. This is my first Z Fold Card, and I think I like it. Of course I used the Everyday Paperdolls cartridge, I cut the little golfer out at 4". I used paper from my stash, the "grass" paper I bought at Joan's, a single sheet. (should of bought more), I also used some 3D stickers from Michael's, and I even used my gypsy to cut out the letters using Printing Press. A little inking of the striped paper and walah, done. I entered this card in 2 challenges. The first one is over at Cooking With Cricut, make a Father's Day Card and the second one is at PaperPlayTime Challenge #48, make a Z card. I'm so excited. Thanks for stopping by.

Make Your Mats Sticky Again

I want to share with you an awesome way to make your Cricut mats sticky again. Yes, it can be done! It has saved me money for sure! First, I spray Goo Gone on my mat, spread it around a bit, let it set for awhile. I bought mine at Home Depot. I use my Cricut scrapper, a spatula, or even a credit card and scrap all the old glue, dirt and grim off the mat. Then, I wash mat with dish liquid and water. Let dry. Mat is clean as a whistle :) Then mix 1/3 part Tack-It glue (I got it at Michaels) with 2/3 part water, stir well and paint mixture on mat with a paintbrush or one of those cheap disposable sponge applicators. Let dry and enjoy your "good as new" mat. You can store the leftover mixture in a container for next time. NOTE: Nita over at NitaNotes.blogspot.com did remind me that doing this does void the warranty on your Cricut, so you may want to wait until it expires after 1 year. Thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #13

Hi friends! I decided to enter this card in the Birthday Sundaes Challenge. The challenge is to make a birthday card using wet or dry embossing. I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder "Happy Birthday" Duh! The ice cream cone is of course from Create A Critter cartridge, probably everyone's favorite! I used glitter paper for the words, paper from my stash, some pearls, ribbon and a border punch from Recollections. (don't know the name) This was made for an elderly woman I know that turned 90! This was her favorite card that she recieved. It feels good to make someone's day doing something that we love to do....Have a great day.

Happy Cruise!

Hi friends, Happy Tuesday! It's Friday for me, yepee... Well, here is the card I made for my 78 year old mother in law. She is going on her first cruise to Alaska in a few days. You don't get the opportunity to make a "cruise" card very often, so I knew I wanted to do one for her. She is the best mother in law a person could have. I used the Life Is A Beach cartridge for the ship, a stamp from Michaels for the "Bon Voyage" which I embossed with dark gray embossing powder. I used flat Metal Dots for the windows, a gel pen for the stitching and paper from my stash. The waves are from paper I had, I simply cut out the "waves"! I think it turned out really cute, I know that she will love it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Cricut Card Challenge #78-WeddingCard

I entered this card in the CCC#78-Wedding Card! My card didn't turn out as I had it pictured in my mind, but it's ok. I tried a little glitter, and some heat embossing on the groom! Need more practice for sure. I used Cricut Cartridge Stretch Your Imagination, what a delicate cut this was, I had to buy a new needle for my Cricut. I wore the old one out. lol Have a blessed day and thanks for stopping by.

Cricut Dust Cover

Hi everyone, my friend Jessica, over at cricutafterdark asked if I would post a picture of my dust cover that I recently made for my Cricut Expressions. So here it is! I used some scrap material I got from my mom and added a fabric strip in the middle and some large rick rack. I think it turned out really well, and it keeps my Cricut clean and decorated at the same time. Hope everyone had a great day. It is VERY hot here in Arkansas, we even broke a record today, 99! Hope thats not a sign of what the summer holds for us. Until next time. Have a blessed day.
